Genre: Romance
Timeline: Oh, I don’t know… some time season 7 Pre-Heroes
Feedback: Absolutely!
Author Note: This isn't one of my favorite fics I've written... actually, it's pretty much at the bottom of the ladder... so, please don't judge all my stories by this one. LOL
“How does that feel, sir?”
Jack looked down at the fresh bandage Carter finished securing around his upper left arm. The slight pink tinge of blood stained it in four long lines, but the anesthetic goop she had gently applied to the wound had taken out the sting.
“You’re getting better at this first aid thing, Carter.”
Sam smiled, smoothing her fingers over the bandage to make sure there were no uncomfortable wrinkles or twists in the gauze. “Well, this isn’t exactly a broken leg, sir. And I have picked up a few things from Janet along the way.”
“Good for me…” he said, suppressing his grin as he looked at her from the corner of his eye.
“Maybe next time you shouldn’t get into a fight with the local feline population.”
“That wasn’t a cat. It was a … monster, or something.”
Sam smiled and shook her head. “Yes, sir.”
She shifted back onto the log beside him, gathering up the packages of gauze, padding and triple antibiotic cream she had used on his arm. An itch tugged at his skin, just below his left ear. He reached to scratch at it, but Sam grabbed his wrist.
“Don’t touch it, sir. You must have gotten another scratch there.”
Jack screwed up his face. “Well, do it quick, Carter. It itches like hell.”
Sam scooted closer, straddling the log they sat on so one of her legs bumped his knees while the other set against his back. Jack cleared his throat, and shifted under the pretense of getting more comfortable. His 2IC leaned in so close he felt her breath on his cheek.
“It’s hard to see with just the campfire. But Teal’c and Daniel took our flashlights. Turn your head alittle.”
Her fingers touched his chin, gently urging him to turn away. He heard her rip open an antiseptic swab, and gritted his teeth for the impending sting. The liquid soaked cloth was cold against his skin, but the chill was immediately followed by tingling pain. Jack sucked air in through his teeth.
He caught his breath in surprise when Sam gently blew across his cheek and neck, turning the sting back into a cool sensation.
“Better?”
Jack swallowed. “Yeah. Neat trick.” He turned his head enough to see her in his peripheral vision, just in time to see her purse her lips again and blow.
The skin around the scratch was cold, but other parts of his body were definitely warming.
Yeah… definitely warming.
Her fingertips brushed his throat and jaw as she smoothed on more of the antiseptic cream she used on his arm. For a woman who could take down alien warriors in hand to hand combat, her touch was intensely gentle. Almost too gentle for him to take.
“I don’t think you need a bandage on it, but I’ll put more balm on it later. Just to keep any debris and dirt out of it.”
“Sure,” he said, having to clear his throat. “Sounds good.”
As she screwed the cap back on the first aid cream, the distant sound of thunder rolled across the wild landscape of P4C-229. Jack looked up just in time to see a white line slash the dark sky. He reached for his ALICE vest and picked up his radio.
“Daniel. Teal’c.”
The click and static of the radio flared before he heard Daniel’s voice. “Yeah, Jack.”
“Looks like a storm is moving in. How far are you from camp?”
There was a pause, and Jack figured Daniel and Teal’c were discussing the question. The click and static came again. “At least an hour.”
Jack looked to the sky again. “I don’t think you have enough time to get here before the rain hits. Find shelter and ride it out. Carter and I are going to move into the hills behind us here. We’ll come down when the storm is over and meet you here.”
“Okay, Jack.”
Jack slipped the radio back into the vest and stood, slipping the vest over his uninjured arm. Sam kicked out the campfire, and without needing to exchange a word, they headed up the slight hill behind them. The thunder grew louder and closer, the bolts of lightening being so close he could feel the charge in the air when they struck somewhere not too far away.
They reached a small alcove fifteen minutes later, just as large raindrops hit the back of his neck. He and Carter no sooner stepped inside and put down their gear when the sky opened up and rain came down in a torrent. Thunder rolled long and loud, so strong it rumbled through his body.
Sam went to work immediately on building another fire while he wandered back into the cave, hoping he didn’t stumble on another one of the ‘things’ that had jumped him earlier. But the cave seemed to dwindle down to a mere crawlspace before shutting off completely, so he felt confident they’d spend the night alone.
Jack looked over his shoulder as Sam hunched over the fire.
Spend the night alone… interesting concept.
Knock it off, Jack! Use your head!
Wrong head, dumbass…
The fire flared, bathing Sam’s features in orange and gold.
“We should be nice and warm for the night, sir. I just hope Daniel and Teal’c find some decent shelter.”
“They’ll be fine.” He walked back to the fire. “The cave dead ends.”
Sam nodded. Jack sat down on a rock near the fire as Sam dug into one of her vest pockets. She took out a packet and ripped it open, picking up her canteen.
“I wanted to give you this before. It’s antibiotics.”
She dumped the pills into her palm and walked to where he sat, crouching down beside him with her hand out. Instead of taking the pills from her, Jack acted on impulse and took her hand, drawing it to his mouth and taking the pills from her palm with his lips. Her skin was warm, and if he wasn’t mistaken, he caught her gasping softly when he used his tongue to bring the pills into his mouth.
Sam pulled her hand away and gave him the canteen. He swallowed the pills and watched her, noticing her avoidance of making eye contact. Silently, he cursed himself for doing something so stupid… especially considering the way they had spent the last several years dancing around each other.
“Thanks.”
Sam nodded and moved away. She set the canteen down with some of her other gear and walked closer to the mouth of the cave. The night sky lit up again, with the thunder rolling through right on top if it. The storm was right on top of them.
The thunder crashed again, each clap louder than the last, overlapping one over the other until the air vibrated with the released energy. Jack watched Sam watch the storm. Another flash lit up the sky, making the night look like day, and a visible shudder moved through her. In the lull of noise, he thought he heard her made a small sound.
“You okay, Carter?”
She turned sharply, looking at him, an almost-embarassed look on her face. “I’m fine. Why?”
Jack stared at her for a moment, then shook his head. “No reason, I guess.”
Sam nodded and turned back to the storm outside, leaning her shoulder into the rock wall. Jack picked up a small pebble from the dirt floor and fiddled with it from hand to hand, watching her again. After several minutes of silence between them, Jack stood and walked towards her, trying to keep his steps as silent as possible.
He reached her side just as another loud roll of thunder moved over the landscape, and the look on her face caught his breath. Her lips were parted slightly, her eyes closed in a look that bordered on erotic. Heat shot out into his limbs.
“I love thunderstorms,” she said softly, her voice heavy.
Sam slowly opened her eyes and turned to face him, leaning back on the cave wall with her hands tucked behind her. The light of the fire made her skin glow and her eyes spark as their gazes met.
“Why?” he asked, feeling the change in the air around them… and not because of the storm.
She pulled her lower lip through her teeth, tipping her chin up as she held his stare. “I don’t think it would be a good idea to tell you, sir.”
Despite his better judgement, Jack took a step towards her. “I’m your CO, Carter. You can tell me.”
Sam pulled in a long breath, her eyes fluttering closed as another clap of thunder hit. She rolled her head slowly from shoulder to shoulder, bringing one hand around to lay it against the exposed skin of her throat. Jack held his breath, fighting the desire to lean into her and…
“I think thunderstorms are erotic.”
He nearly choked, clearing his throat before he could speak. “Erotic?”
She nodded, opening her blue eyes to look at him again. “Yeah. Erotic. Makes my body just hum. Can’t you feel it, Colonel? Can’t you feel your blood hum?”
He nodded, the only thing he seemed capable of.
Jack didn’t know who took the first step, but Sam was in his arms and their open mouths came together in a kiss that singed him to his bones. Their tongues connected like an electrical conduit. Frustration made him groan as he fumbled with her ALICE vest, managing to release the buckles and shove it off her shoulders without breaking contact with her lips.
Finally, they pulled back, drawing ragged breaths. Jack stared down at her, lost in the darkened depths of her blue eyes. The firelight reflected off her flushed cheeks and moist lips.
“Jack…” she said softly, her voice like a caress.
He brought his hands forward, and taking one last steadying breath, ran his fingers along the outer curve of her breasts through the soft cotton of her black tee shirt. Sam gasped, her back arching her body closer to him, her nipples visible through the cloth.
Jack brought his gaze up again, looking into her face. Her expression was filled with wonder, heat, and absolutely no hesitation. Holding her eyes on him, Sam crossed her arms over her body and grasped her shirt above the waist of her BDU’s. Slowly, excrutiatingly slowly, she pulled the shirt free of her pants and drew it over her head, revealing creamy skin and the simple cotton bra that covered her breasts.
He was a lost man.
Jack reached out to her, resting his palms on her sides beneath her breasts. Sam drew a deep breath and he felt her ribcage expand within his hold. He stepped closer, his heart pounding as she lifted her arms to smooth her fingers into his hair and hold the back of his neck.
She stood on her toes to bring her mouth within a breath of his, teasing him with the nearness. Jack slid his hands along her skin, slipping his thumbs beneath the bottom of her bra. Open mouthed, their breath mingled and he nearly lost it when the tip of her tongue brushed his lip.
“Sam, this is—“
“—too long coming. Touch me, Jack, before I go insane.”
He moved his hands behind her and found the clasps of her bra, releasing them much faster than he expected, considering his lack of practice over the years. Her breasts filled his hands, her nipples hard against his palms.
Sam lowered her arms long enough to toss the bra away, leaving her naked from the waist up. Jack watched the firelight dance over her skin.
He couldn’t take it anymore and pulled her to him in a rough embrace, devouring her mouth. His body screamed for him to lift her and put her against the wall and bury himself so deep inside her it would suck the life from him. But the rocks were rough, and he didn’t want to mar her beautiful skin. Instead, he pressed his hands against her back and held her as close as possible
She met him with the same heat, the same fervor, and within minutes they had made their way back to the fire. Jack stepped away from her only long enough to spread out one of the blankets from their pack – close enough to the fire to provide warmth without the danger of burns in their zeal.
Sam took his hands, and Jack tried to convince himself this wasn’t a dream. It was too amazing to be a dream. The thunder clapped loudly outside, and this time he did feel the hum in his blood. He couldn’t keep his hands off her, caressing her breasts and shoulders as she tugged his shirt from his pants. Soon, it joined her tee shirt and bra on the ground.
Her hands on his body was the sweetest torture he had ever know… ever imagined… as she studied his body the way he studied hers. Jack looked down to watch her fingertips move over his skin, pausing at each of the scars that marred his body after years of fighting and nearly dying. Her hand moved along his side and up to his shoulders, finding each mark – each imperfection.
A moment of uncertainty moved through him. What would a beautiful woman like Sam want with a battle weary warhorse like him.
She leaned into him, pressing her warm lips against his breastbone. As her mouth played across his chest, her hands released his belt and worked open his pants. Her small, capable hands slipped inside and curled around the hard evidence of her effect on him.
“Oh. God. Sam…”
The cave lit up with a lightening bolt that struck within a mile of their haven. In its light, Jack saw the pure arousal and need in Sam’s eyes. He took her head between her hands and covered her mouth, holding her there to keep the kiss as deep and as long as possible.
Sam’s delicate touch pushed his BDU’s down off his hips and he cursed the damn regulation boots that kept him from kicking them free. He stepped away from her only long enough to bend over and untie the laces, kicking himself free. He looked up from his shoes to see Sam lay down on the blanket, removing her own boots. Slowly, he straightened his body to watch her lie back, unbuckle her belt and undo her pants.
With her gaze on him, she raised her hips and slid the green pants down her thighs, exposing her naked body to him and the firelight.
Right then… a troop of SF’s could have stormed in and declared his courts martial… and he wouldn’t have given a damn. Samantha Carter, the most amazing woman he had ever known, held her hands out to him and silently beckoned him to join her on the blanket.
Jack knelt in front of her as she sat up, meeting his kiss. He wrapped his arms around her, and gently eased her back, the sensation of their heated skin coming together pulled an unwilling groan from his chest.
Thunder clapped, vibrating through the ground beneath them, surging energy through their bodies as he kissed and nipped his way over her body, drawing first one breast into his mouth – and when rewarded by the deep purr in her throat – moved to the other.
Sam moved beneath him, seeking for the position that brought them closest to a full joining of their bodies. Jack rested his elbows on the ground on either side of Sam’s head, allowing him to smooth her hair and look into her face. The heat of her body beneath him was drugging, dizzying, intoxicating.
“Sam, if we do this…”
She covered his mouth with a single finger, pursing her lips. “Shhh. Jack, I know it all. I know the ramifications. The consequences. But I know I want it. I need… you.”
He devoured her lips, tasting the inside of her mouth with his tongue as he slid his hands down her body and held her hip. With more control than he thought he had left, he slowly slipped inside her heat.
“Oh… GOD!” Sam cried, arching her body against him.
Jack gritted his teeth against the surge of power that shot through his body, and he dared not move once he was fully encased by the sweetest essence he had ever known. He pressed his face into the curve of her shoulder as he gained the ability to move again, slowly stroking them both into oblivion.
The thunder crashed… lightening struck… and with each declaration of nature, Jack found one more bit of heaven.

The static click of the radio and Daniel’s voice drew Jack from the best night of sleep he had experienced in years.
“Jack. Sam,” came Daniel’s voice again.
Sam stirred against his chest, her short blonde hair tickling his skin.
“Sam,” he said softly, stroking her shoulders. “Sam, wake up.”
She shifted, moaned softly, and lifted her head to look at him. Heavy eyelids hooded her blue eyes and the look of satisfaction relaxed her features.
“Good morning,” she said softly.
Jack smiled, thinking he probably looked like a fool. “Good morning.”
“Jack, are you there?”
Sam sat up with a jerk, holding the blanket to her naked body. Her eyes were wide and near-panic. Jack sat up with her, putting his hand on her shoulder and holding her gaze as he reached for his vest and the radio.
“Yeah, Daniel,” he said, squeezing the mic.
“We’re about twenty-minutes from the original site.”
“We’re leaving our shelter in five minutes, and will meet you there.”
“Got it. What a night, huh? I’ve never experienced anything like it. One a scale of one to ten, it’s an eleven on the wonders of nature scale.”
Jack couldn’t help smile, and slowly he saw the tension dissipate from Sam’s expression. “That it was, Daniel. That it was.”
He dropped the radio and cupped his hand behind her head to pull her against him for an earth-shaking kiss. The blanket slipped away and he kneaded her breast with his other hand, easing her back on the blanket again.
“Jack, we told them we’re leaving…”
“I’ve got five minutes…”
Sam laughed as he moved over her, finding again the peace he had missed for so long. Tomorrow, he’d figure it all out. Tomorrow, he’d pay the piper. Tomorrow was tomorrow… Sam was right now.
